International award-winning harpist for the finest events
Recognised for her captivating artistry and international presence, Katie Lo is an award-winning harpist, educator, and creative entrepreneur. She has performed in recitals, orchestral concerts, and musical events across Hong Kong, London, Singapore, Korea, Australia, and the United States.
Katie began learning the harp at the age of nine under the guidance of Dan Yu. Her accolades include Gold Medal at the 3rd Hong Kong Harp Competition, First Prize at the 7th French International Harp Competition, and Second Prize at the 5th USA Young Artist’s Harp Competition. In 2025, she was awarded the Royal Academy of Music Harp Prize. As an orchestral musician, she has performed with ensembles including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Symphonic Winds, Ponte London Orchestra, and the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Brass.
In 2018, Katie founded Aspire Charity Harp Foundation (Aspire) with a vision to make harp music more accessible and impactful within the community. Throughout the years, Aspire has engaged in community outreach, fundraising concerts, and NGO partnerships.Through Aspire’s initiatives, over HKD $700,000 has been raised for charitable causes, alongside numerous community workshops and collaborations with organisations such as Playright, St. James Settlement, and HK Rehabilitation Power.
Katie holds a Master’s degree in Harp Performance with Distinction (DipRAM) from the Royal Academy of Music in London, fully supported by the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme. She previously graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Hong Kong, double majoring in International Business & Global Management and Music.
Beyond her work as a harpist and educator, Katie is also a content creator, where she documents her journey of personal growth — navigating creativity, ambition, discipline, and life transitions. Through digital storytelling, she shares an honest perspective on building a purposeful and evolving life, both on and off the stage.
Katie Lo is an experienced harp teacher, offering lessons in both pedal and lever harp. With a background in piano, Katie brings a comprehensive approach to music education. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, creating a welcoming environment for a diverse range of students.
Katie’s educational background includes gaining an entrance scholarship to study a masters degree in harp performance at the Royal Academy of Music, where she worked with Professor Skaila Kanga. She was also awarded a full tuition scholarship under the HK Scholarship of Excellence Scheme to support her studies in London. During her time at the Academy, Katie participated in the Open Academy projects, leading workshops at primary schools across London. She is also awarded the LIcentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM), the Academy’s music teacher training course. Prior to the Academy, Katie has worked with Ms Dan Yu for over 10 years.
Katie Lo has also taken part in the HKDSE music examination and achieved grades 5 and 8 in ABRSM music theory. She has written music theory educational materials and has a wealth of experience teaching in music centres.
Katie strongly believes in holistic development in music education– addressing not only students' musical growth but also their intellectual, emotional, and social growth. Katie is passionate about helping her students stay motivated and continually improve, encouraging them to set goals, challenge themselves, and take pride in their progress. She strives to create an environment that inspires confidence, perseverance, and a lasting love for music.
Katie is a seasoned harpist who brings elegance and sophistication to every occasion: from luxury weddings and private soirées to high-end corporate events and curated festivals.
